Swim!

Kade started swim lessons this week. He LOVES them. He smiles the whole time. And the other little girl, Kate, cries the whole time. Here he is floating on a fish with Kate. (Kade & Kate - how cute!) That's the instructor, Sarah. He even started blowing bubbles in the water today, and then he would open his mouth and take a big drink.

Beach Bums

We went to L.A. last weekend, for a wedding. Rob found a hotel, on Priceline, in Manhattan Beach. It was a 30 minute walk to the beach, so we woke up both mornings and headed down for some sand and sun. It was a quick, but fun getaway. (The wedding was nice too. Congratulations Dave & Jessica.) We love the beach!
This was Kade's room. (Better known as "the closet.")

Kade was helping Rob look up the weather for the day.
He wasn't too sure about the ocean.
The water was cold.
But he loved the sand.
Mmmmm. Yummy!
I was on the trip too, I swear! I guess I was just the designated photographer...

10 Months Old!

I realized I forgot to post his 10 month picture. My Mom was visiting, so she actually took the pic, and had to email it to me. I think that's why I forgot to post what he's up to now...

  • He army crawls...everywhere.
  • He figured out how to get back into a sitting position, when he's finished crawling.
  • 3 giant teeth are now visible.
  • He grinds the 3 teeth. (It's a terrible sound!)
  • "mama" & "ba ba" are the only 2 (English) words he says.
  • He loves to play with cords or strings. (Is that safe?)
  • He gets soooo excited when Daddy comes home from work. When he hears the front door unlock he sits perfectly still. And when Rob steps onto the tile, Kade starts to smile. And as soon as Rob says anything Kade starts squirming & giggling uncontrollably. Oh, did I mention he snorts, when he gets excited?
  • Talking on the phone & dancing are his favorite activities.

Happy 1st Father's Day!

Kade loves to play with Daddy! (Even if it's upside-down.) We hope he had a good Father's day! We let Rob take a nap after Church and then we headed over to our friends' (Scott & Mel) house for a dinner made by Mel & I, and then game night. We enjoyed some tequila-lime turkey, cheesy green beans (Scott's fave), watermelon, and crescent rolls. We had Cowboy Caviar & chips as an appetizer (Rob's favorite), and German Chocolate cake, banana cream pie, and chocolate chip cookies for dessert. We were stuffed.
Rob opened his presents-a little scrapbook about "My Dad", from Kade & I. And a book with some cds about gross songs and activities to do with your kids, from my Mom. It was definitely a boy gift.
We played Ticket To ride (Scott & Rob's new favorite game) & Rummy, until 11:00. Then it was time to take Rob home & put him to bed. (Kade was sleeping just fine at Scott & Mel's house.)
We hope he had a memorable 1st Father's Day...and I know Kade is lucky to have Rob as his Daddy!

Yuma Bound

Rob went hiking/camping (last week) with his brothers and the Boy Scouts so Kade, Boe & I headed down to Yuma. My stepdad was also gone, on a fishing trip. So my Mom & I scrapbooked, swam, & shopped, with a little help from Kade, of course. My camera is starting to die, so I didn't take a lot of pics, but here are a few...
Kade liked this giraffe neck pillow that we found at Tuesday Morning, until he couldn't figure out how to get the ear OUT of his mouth.
We went to dinner with Grandpa (who can never keep his eyes open for pictures).
Kade & Grandpa (eyes closed again)

We had a great weekend & Kade was such a good traveler & sleeper. (Those were the 2 things that I was worried about on the trip.) But we were excited to see Rob/Daddy, when we came home. Thanks for playing with us Mom!

Go D'Backs!

We took Kade to his 1st Diamondbacks baseball game, on Friday. Even though he started getting sleepy, there was way too much to look at. He loved the giant TV screen (the jumbo tron?). I think he was waiting for a Baby Einstein movie to play on it. He would dance to all the different music that would play between pitches. Daddy bought him a souvenir "rattler". Kade liked the noise it made when everyone else would shake them in the air. And he was fascinated by the fireworks show that they did at the the end of the game. Even though the Diamondbacks lost, we still had a good time.

Trying to smile, even though he was sleepy. We had some good seats. That's home plate in the background.
Having a bottle on Daddy's lap.
Watching the fireworks on Daddy's shoulders.
