Camping in Carlsbad

Over the 4th of July we did some "beach" camping in Carlsbad, with ALL of Rob's family (something like 36 people), plus all of my SIL's family. We must have had 10 campsites, with 3 families per site. We actually camped on campsites that overlooked the beach, and hiked down to the beach during the day. It was a little colder than we expected, but we had a great time!

Here's our camp, before Eric & Kim showed up w/ more grass and their humongous tent!
Havin' a peach...
My bro-in-law spent about 20 minutes making a sandwich, so of course I had to get a pic of the thing...
Doesn't it look delicious?

Goofin' around
Flying kites on a breezy beach day.
Yummiest breakfast at Brockton Villa, overlooking the ocean.
Of course we had to hit Sea World!
Checking out the map, and planning the day.
Kade's favorite exhibit. (Why didn't this picture turn?)
We went thru the shark tunnel twice, per Kade's request.
Kade & Mommy (yes, I have new eyes! It's been a long time coming...)
Kade enjoying the "white noise" on the beach.
Uncle Russ cuddling Kade (Kade's newest cousin, baby Owen w/ his Mommy, Jen)
Kade holding baby Owen, w/ a little help from Daddy
We rode a school bus over to an amphitheatre where the fireworks show was awesome!

Rob's BF Cameron, wife Natalie & baby Ava
SIL responsible for this trip, Deirdre, Wade & lotsa boys!
In awe of the fireworks.

I realized after the trip that I didn't take very many family pictures. I wish I had taken more... We did have a photographer friend take some of the WHOLE family down on the beach. I'll have to add them when we get them. :)

One last picture of my BIL, Eric. Are words even necessary?

The Days of Summer... Are Here

It was in the 90's today, so we set up out little water feature in the back yard. After Rob attached it to the hose, the 3 of us would run and jump over it, shouting, "yoo-hoo," the whole time.

(Notice Boe in the background, hiding in the house. He wasn't a big fan of the crazy water hose.)
Nice hair!
Kade kept yelling, "There's water everywhere!" He was slowly catching on to the point of the whole thing.

SUNDEVIL or COUGAR?

Rob took the fam up to Phoenix for the ASU / BYU baseball game. We sat on the lawn, and Kade threw his ball the WHOLE time. When we stopped playing with him, he found some college couples to throw to. He loved it!!

As you can tell we are a mixed family, so he sported gear for both teams. :)

Rewind...

I know, I know....
Where have we been?

Our external camera drive has been broken since January, and we finally replaced it. So instead of backposting, I'm just uploading a TON of pictures, and giving you little captions underneath.
We're back!!!!!
Kade and his best buddy, Remi. (and their Dads, Rob & Scott)

Rob sent me to California, for my birthday. (It was my Christmas present.) Kade stayed home with Daddy, and a little help from Memaw. I had such a great time with my BFFs, shopping, eating, going to movies, laughing, talking, and then crying when it was time to go home. I MISS them every day!!!!

(Me, Annie & Lisa) Gotta love those Napa outlets!!!

(Me, Lisa & Annie) Out to lunch
Me & My Girl, after a long day of shopping.
(Me & Lisa) Waiting for our chick-flick to start.
(Alison, Annie, Me & Lisa) Out to dinner on my birthday. Those garlic balls were delicious!
Annie & I snuck out after her kids were in bed, to get in another chick-flick at the movies.
I couldn't resist!!!! Gotta love her!
(Alison (ready to pop any day), Me & Annie) Who doesn't love an afternoon pedicure?!
Check out our matching toes! I still had cotton in mine!
Yummy sandwich...
Yummy bagel dog...
Enjoying dinner with my friends.
I had so much fun!
Can't wait to come back!
(Kade keeps talking about me going to California, "just like Lightning Mcqueen goes to California for the big race.")

Kade & Mommy cuddling on the couch.
Kade & Mommy making silly faces.
Kade & Daddy sitting very close to the floor, at the Suns game.

My Mom came to Tucson for her birthday...
Kade & Memaw having a sword fight with their chopsticks.
Hammin' it up with Memaw.
Playing ball with Boe, at the park.
Kade & Memaw loved going "up and down, up and down" on the see-saw.
Cheese!
Memaw's birthday cake, decorated by Kade.

Rob & I took Kade to the Tucson Children's Museum.
He loved this dinosaur that was outside.
He still talks about this Police motorcycle that he sat on.
Check out those cute little buns.

Baby Cousin

Kade is in love with his new cousin, baby Owen. I've never seen a 2 year-old sit on a couch and hold a newborn for so long. He had to practically be bribed to give him up. He just liked rubbing Owen's tummy saying, "He's so cute. He's going to get bigger like me."

(Thanks Jen, for sending us the picture.)

For the Love of Football

Downstairs I hear the little pat-pat of running feet.
Kade wanted his "football shirt" on and football on the TV. The only thing I could find, on the NFL channel, is something called NFL Scouting Combine. It's a bunch of big guys, doing drills on a football field. (I have no idea..) But now Kade is "running drills" with his football, just like those other "football guys."
And every once in awhile I hear, "Go Kade! Go! Go!" as he yells to himself.
